What is Phenix Psychiatric?

Located in Bedford, New Hampshire, Phenix Psychiatric was established to provide compassionate, consistent, and progressive mental health treatment. We recognize the courage it takes to seek change and feel honored to partner with individuals as they work toward health, resilience, and personal growth. Our practice is centered on helping patients overcome unique challenges while building the skills and tools needed to navigate increasingly complex neurobiological and life dynamics.

Inspired by the spirit of renewal symbolized by the Phoenix, we believe that struggle can be part of transformation. We collaborate closely with our patients, offering thoughtful and evidence based psychopharmacological treatment, education, and ongoing support to promote optimal mental wellness. We are deeply committed to protecting patient privacy and maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality.

A little About our providers

Jennifer Tawa - APRN, PMHNP-BC

Jennifer is a board certified, psychiatric nurse practitioner who has been practicing in the field of nursing and mental health for over 15 years. She is an alumna of Messiah College and Rivier University. She holds medical backgrounds in solid organ transplant and medical surgical care.

Mental health is an integral part of well-being and Jennifer is dedicated to helping individuals achieve optimum mental health using medication management as one of many treatment tools. Her subspecialties in psychiatry are reactive anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder in addition to pre and post partum mental health care. Jennifer has worked in several areas in psychiatry including the VA, community mental health centers, women's care, and integrative care.

Emma Brady - APRN, PMHNP-BC

NP Brady is a board-certified adult and child psychiatric nurse practitioner who brings a dynamic blend of skills and knowledge to provide compassionate and effective care to children and adults of all ages. She is an alumna of Salem State University and Rivier University. With a strong foundation in emergency psychiatric medicine and dual diagnosis, she is well-prepared to assess, diagnose, and treat patients with a multitude of acute and chronic psychiatric conditions. Her specialties include neurodivergent individuals, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders, including obsessive-compulsive disorder, prolonged grief disorder, and agoraphobia. Emma is strongly committed to staying up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in psychiatric care to provide the best possible patient outcomes. Her mission is to create a safe, supportive, and educational environment for all patients and their families, fostering trust, open communication, and healing.

Jennifer MacDonald- APRN, PMHNP-BC

NP MacDonald is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience providing comprehensive psychiatric care in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings. She has worked with children, adolescents, and adults, delivering compassionate, evidence-based treatment tailored to each individual’s unique clinical and psychosocial needs. Her professional experience includes positions at Boston Children’s Hospital, Holy Family Hospital, Emerson Hospital, and other reputable healthcare institutions, where she has cared for patients across a broad spectrum of acuity and diagnostic complexity.

Jennifer specializes in comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessment, and medication management for a wide range of mental health conditions. In outpatient settings, she prioritizes continuity of care, fosters strong therapeutic relationships, and develops individualized treatment plans that support long-term stability and recovery.

She practices from a holistic, trauma-informed framework and values collaborative partnerships with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal outcomes. Dedicated, detail-oriented, and committed to clinical excellence. Jennifer is currently accepting new clients.
